Concerts link already know about the latest Cry Free sensation. The Lord of the Hammond, and founding member of Deep Purple, Jon Lord is taking Cry Free on his first ever tour of Russia as a solo artist. As we have proudly announced on these pages earlier on, the legendary keyboardist and composer was so pleased with the performance of the Hungarian group after his Budapest concerts that he even decided to replace his Slovakian backing band, which failed to meet his requirements, for Cry Free during his shows in Bratislava. He also expressed his wish that if it was possible, he would insist on working with the Hungarian Deep Purple Cover Band whenever he was in the region. After an offer from Lord's management for Cry Free to play Germany, which didn't take place in the end because of the opposing interests of local promoters, the band did get booked with Jon for a four-venue Russian tour. Although as the planned fourth city of Novosibirsk finally didn't make it to the schedule, unfortunately the band don't get to travel to the distant Siberia, the guys will still travel 7000 km's altogether on different flights between Budapest and the Ural mountain.
The programme of the concerts will still be based on the ground-breaking Concerto for Group and Orchestra, Deep Purple classics, and some of the great composer's very own songs from his solo albums, presented by the big man himself, the best conductors and orchestras from the country, and Cry Free. Vocal duties will be handled by Steve Balsamo and Kasia Laska.
