The season closing show of the monthly Cry Free club took place31 May 2004
The season closing show of the monthly Cry Free club took place on 20 May, just before the summer break. The gig proved to be just as special as all the other previous club concerts. The unique conceptional sets that the Hungarian Deep Purple Cover Band surprise their fans with each month have become ever more popular. The set for May was the much awaited current American DP programme. When the support band Chubby Blues started playing their groovy southern rock, the Cry Free fans were guessing whether their favourites would really play the new Purple set including the entire Machine Head material song after song. After the Chubby Blues concert (with a guest performance by Attila Scholtz on acoustic guitar and vocals) had come to an end, Cry Free burst onto the stage with a thundering cover of Silver Tongue from the new DP album, Bananas. As the songs Woman From Tokyo, I Got Your Number, Strange Kind Of Woman, Bananas etc. followed one by one, it became clear for the audience that Cry Free were not kidding about playing an identical show to that of Deep Purple's US tour. The fans welcomed the long missed numbers such as Never Before and Pictures Of Home (for the first time featuring drummer György Blaskó on backing vocals), and brand new Cry Free covers Silver Tongue and Knocking At Your Back Door. The Hungarian Deep Purple Cover Band will return with their monthly club and the highly appreciated concept gigs in September. In the mean time, try to catch the band live at the open air venues (festivals, bike meetings etc.) they are scheduled to play during the summer (see Concerts link).
