Introducing the new guitarist14 September 2015, 22:45

Cry Free - Deep Purple's Favourite Tribute
We have reported recently that guitarist Dénes Nagy was leaving Cry Free to join one of Hungary's most prominent blues singers of all time, Gyula "Bill" Deák. This, of course, meant that after two and a half years there was vacancy in the guitarist position again.

Throughout their career stretching over two decades Cry Free have always selected their new members from inner circles. This time, however, the band decided to announce the opportunity publicly so that every serious Deep Purple fanatic guitar player could get a chance to try their luck, and the best to get the job! This resulted in about 30 applicants via different channels of the internet, the most promising of which were then auditioned in person too.

The guitarist making the best impression on the band with his technical superiority and high level of preparedness as well as an overall musicianship with the necessary touch of Ritchie Blackmore in style and sound was Tibor Fülöp (see photo). Tibor will debut with the band on Saturday at Muzikum Club, Budapest. Till then here's a glimpse of how the 32-year-old guitarist handles a classic Blackmore solo.
