Cry Free - Deep Purple's Favourite Tribute
Russian "men's magazine" Maxim, which in its special series had already interviewed artists like Purple bassist-vocalist Glenn Hughes, also had a special feature with representatives of the Nick Simper/Don Airey double bill in Moscow back in March. Representing the Don Airey Band was the eponymous keyboard player himself, whereas Simper's group delegated Cry Free singer Attila Scholtz, who was on tour with them substituting for their original vocalist not present due to health issues.

During these unusual interviews the musicians invited can freely reflect to current local music videos shown to them on a laptop, and the comments may be funny as well as serious, whatever they associate with what they see and hear. Airey and Scholtz took the funny side of things, and had a blast laughing at the videos coming from a wide range of genres involving pop and hip-hop. The Cry Free frontman even debuted as a rapper!

But with the interview stretching longer than planned, Attila had to leave before completing the session, as the Nick Simper set was already starting on the main stage of Crocus City Hall. To fill his seat next to the legendary keyboardist, came singer Carl Sentance from the Don Airey Band, who had also joined Nazareth a little while before.

Here's the video, especially dedicated to those of you who understand Russian.
