Jon Lord would have been 73 today9 June 2014, 23:55

It's been almost two years since Jon Lord, the organist who revolutionized Hammond playing and gave us some of the most wonderful pieces of music in two different worlds, i.e. rock and classical, and who was a dear friend of Cry Free, the band that accompanied him in 14 of his shows, passed away. But his memory will not fade, because since then no day has gone without hundreds of his fans posting some of his best recordings on the internet. On special days like today, when we celebrate his birthday, all fan forums and groups are basically flooded by the endless waves of cool Deep Purple tracks and magical Lord compositions recorded in the studio or on stage. To make a difference we are giving you a special insight into one of Jon's rehearsals, namely a rehearsal for his 25 March 2010 show in the Hungarian city of Győr, so you can see the Maestro at work. The video is a nicely edited 10-minute summary of that rehearsal footage. Happy Birthday Jon!
