Cry Free - Deep Purple's Favourite Tribute
We are proud to announce that tomorrow, i.e. on April 6 2013 Cry Free will share the stage once again with a real legend in the world of rock, drummer Bobby Rondinelli (ex-Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Scorpions...). This will be the 20th time for Cry Free to join forces with a hero of theirs, following concerts with the likes of Ian Paice (Deep Purple), Nick Simper (Deep Purple), Ken Hensley (Uriah Heep), and the late and great Jon Lord, with whom the band performed 14 sympho-rock shows all around the world.

The event that will feature 58-year-old New York-based drummer icon Bobby Rondinelli and Cry Free together is the Annual Drummers' Festival Of Győr, which presents some of the biggest names in the percussion world each year. The star of the event three years ago was Ian Paice, who played a 30-minute set of Deep Purple songs with Cry Free after his drum clinic performance (see below). The plan is similar this year too as the fans can see Rondinelli perform some of the legendary bits and pieces of his solos, giving away the secrets behind them, before the band gets on stage to engage in some serious rock n roll business with him. The set will be all the more new to the Hungarian Deep Purple Cover Band, as this time the 30+ minute programme will contain exclusively Rainbow material. It might be a pleasant surprise for some of the fans, however, that Rondinelli will also play songs from the era preceding his career in Rainbow, characterised by the amazing Cozy Powell, who died in a tragic car accident exactly 15 years ago. Thus the concert will also be a tribute to Powell, as well as to singer Ronnie James Dio of the same line-up, who has also passed away recently.

The Rondinelli drum clinic and the short but really powerful Rainbow live set will all take place at Richter Terem, Győr, from 9.30pm after a long row of performances by leading Hungarian and international drummers and percussionists. Let us draw the attention of our Austrian and Slovakian readers to the fact that the city of Győr is very close to the borders of their country, so if they are devoted fans of Bobby Rondinelli, Rainbow or simply those fantastic instruments called drums, they shouldn't hesitate to come over, especially as the ticket prices are really low.

This concert has an extra Cry Free significance to it, as it is the first official appearance of new guitar player Dénes Nagy. The young talent has recently replaced former guitarist Olivér Lee, who decided to pursue a solo career. The change took place in the friendliest of ways, and Olivér himself appointed his replacement, who already played a few shows with the band as a guest, much to the satisfaction of fans.
