The "Machine Head 40" tour in photographs20 December 2012, 22:45
The "Machine Head 40" Cry Free tour, the aim of which was to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Deep Purple's groundbreaking record, began in Budapest on 26 October and ended in the also native town of Varpalota last Saturday, taking the band to a row of venues in the capital, the countryside, and abroad. The visual documentation of these performances is quite extensive, and it is currently being processed by cryfree.hu, but we have already posted two full galleries to start with. One of them is from a rather informal quasi-private
fun gig in a Hungarian village with a real house-party feeling and hundreds of litres of alcohol consumed, whereas the other features the band in their professional approach giving their top form at one of Austria's most prominent clubs,
Szene Wien. Both sets of photos were taken by trained photographers with a real artistic sense, the pictures beautifully recreating the special atmospheres of both the unlimited rapture of a friendly party with a few dozens of hardcore fans, and the classic concert feeling of the ultimate rock show in a good-sized European club in front of a crowd of a few hundreds. Our special thanks go out to photographers Kornél Mayer and Franz A. Havranek.
