Cry Free - Deep Purple's Favourite Tribute
The next venue of the Cry Free "Machine Head 40" European Tour is Szene Wien, Austria, where tomorrow (i.e. on Friday) from 8 p.m. all the classic songs of the 1972 Deep Purple record will be thundering again. Cry Free will present them according to their successful recipe that combines the perfect musical elements of the studio album and the magical live versions of the Made In Japan record also celebrating its 40th birthday this year.

Cry Free's gig will feature Austrian drummer Rainer Lidauer too, who the Hungarian Deep Purple Cover Band and their fans first met two years ago on their "Deep Purple History" tour. This act consisted of Cry Free and Irish-Austrian DP tribute "Purpendicular" with Rainer on drums, and the double-header travelled through the countries of Hungary, Austria, and Germany. At some point during the organisation this time it seemed that Cry Free's drummer Tamas Tatai wouldn't be able to make it to Vienna, and in need of a percussionist the Hungarian musicians asked old pal Rainer to help them out, and he very kindly agreed. With the fortunate course of happenings though it finally turned out that Tamas would be available for the show, but to express their gratitude, the band insisted that Rainer do play at least one song with them as their special guest.

As well as "The Deep Purple History" two years ago, or "Purple Queen" last week in Switzerland, the Viennese "Classic Rock Night" will feature two bands too. The partner of the Hungarian Deep Purple Cover Band this time is Austrian Led Zep tribute Grand Zeppelin, who pay just as much attention to be absolutely authentic as Cry Free and their Hungarian friends in their similar project "Purple Zeppelin Jam". The concert will start off with Cry Free's performance at 8 p.m. to be followed by Grand Zeppelin's gig sometime after 9 p.m.

And here's a little appetizer of Grand Zeppelin's live show with ex-drummer Rainer Lidauer.

And for all of you German-speaking fans, here's the official promo text 'auf Deutsch'.
