Cry Free - Deep Purple's Favourite Tribute
It's been over a week since ex-Uriah Heep keyboardist and composer Ken Hensley's concert in Budapest, but the warmth from the hearts of everyone present still hasn't disappeared. Maestro Hensley's kind and open personality touched everyone's soul in the almost sold out Pecsa Cafe through both his music and his words -as it was one of those storytelling type of concerts. In the former he was helped by his acoustic guitars, his piano, and at the end of the show the Hammond organ lent by Cry Free's Norbert Soós, whereas in the latter he was helped by singer Attila Scholtz, who was his interpreter on stage, translating to Hungarian all of the amusing stories from his long and exciting career.

Hensley's original plan to perform that evening was a full solo concert, but when the idea came about that he and Cry Free could be playing together again like a couple of times before, he said yes, so finally what was to follow the one-man show was a short but powerful hard rock finale featuring the British icon with Cry Free. Although Hensley did an excellent interpretation of all the songs that had originally been written for a full rock band on his own this time, leaving no feelings of absence in the fans, everybody in the crowd (fans, musicians, journalists, and promoters) agreed that the real explosion came when Hensley and his Hungarian buddies hit the stage together with the Maestro behind the Hammond and the whole united "new" band rockin' out like crazy.
