Ken Hensley and Cry Free on the DVD supplement of Rockinform1 June 2011, 11:11

Cry Free - Deep Purple's Favourite Tribute
Rockinform, the leading Hungarian rock magazine features Ken Hensley (ex-Uriah Heep) and Cry Free performing the UH classic July Morning together on the DVD supplement of its May edition. As you know, just like the Lord of the Hammond, this other ikonic Hammond player also chose Cry Free to be his backing band last December, when he performed two shows at the winter event of the summer festival, Gastroblues. The exciting recording is only one of the 55 tracks included on the DVD, whose purpose is to give an insight into the past, present, and future of Hungary's biggest blues-rock festival.

The other aim of the DVD is of course to be an appetizer for this year's festival, the headliner of which is Jon Lord and his Blues Project. We have already informed you about the exciting news that there have been semi-official negotiations between Jon Lord, Cry Free, and the local organisers about a little Purple tribute jam featuring the Maestro as very special guest. Although all the participants are fond of the idea, there are certain professional reasons against it this time. Therefore it is not guaranteed that the Lord of the Hammond and his favourite Hungarian musician friends will actually appear on stage together, but what is for sure is that in the early afternoon of July 3 Cry Free will perform on the open air stage, while in the evening of July 2 Jon Lord Blues Project will make their Hungarian debut in the sports hall as it is announced on the cover of Rockinform as well. For any self-respecting Hungarian CF, DP, or JL fan the first weekend of July is to be marked red in the diary! :-)
