THE SECOND JON LORD TOUR OF RUSSIA FEATURING CRY FREE8 April 2011, 00:16
The Lord of the Hammond and the Hungarian Deep Purple Cover Band turn their "ships" towards the east together for the second time in two years. To start up the tour on 10 April 2011, the rock section of the Lord show will fly to Krasnodar to meet up with their first "classical" partner, the Kuban Symphonic Orchestra, conducted by Vladimir Ponkin, and start work together. The Russian premiere of the complete Sarabande programme will take place on 12 April on the stage of DI Primera Krasnodar holding 1000 people. The next day the complete team and crew set off to "deliver" their freshly debuted act to the second venue of the tour, Rostov. KSK Express, the sports arena of the city built on the river Don, will be the home of the second Jon Lord concert, which will thus feature the same line-up as the Krasnodar show, but at a slightly bigger venue that can seat up to 1200 people. The next morning Cry Free along with Jon Lord and co. will fly from the Black Sea all the way up to the Baltic Sea to join forces with their second symphonic partner of the tour, State Hermitage Orchestra “St. Petersburg Camerata”, with whom they will spend the following week rehearsing and performing. Fronting the St. Petersburg musicians will be conductor Fabio Mastrangelo, who worked with Maestro Lord during his first visit to Petersburg in October 2009 as well. This new lineup of the 2011 tour will debut in the orchestra's hometown on 17 April at the biggest venue out of the four, BKZ Oktyabrskiy Concert Hall, where the promoters expect a potential 2,500 fans. Afterwards the complete show will move on to the capital city to rock the 3rd Pavilion of the Crocus Expo in Moscow on 20 April, and to close the second Jon Lord tour of Russia in the presence of about 2000 fans.
Two orchestras fronted by two different conductors will thus be responsible for the symphonic segments of the concerts, whereas the rock section will remain unchanged throughout the tour:
Jon Lord and Cry Free. The singers will also be constant during the four shows, the excellent duo of
Steve Balsamo and
Kasia Łaska will share vocal duties once again. However, Lord will introduce a new soloist to his orchestral act, special guest
Anna Phoebe, who will add to the "usual" magic with her dynamic violin playing and super-attractive looks.
